Axis Deer (Axis axis)

Axis deer are seen by many as the most beautiful deer in the world. The Axis deer is a native of India and was introduced into Texas in the early 1930s where they have thrived. The antler development of an Axis deer is not seasonal like other deer. Axis bucks can be in many different stages of antler development at any given time of the year. Gestation period is 7 1/2 months with 1 young born.
